Just for today,

do not worry.

Worry, according to my American Heritage dictionary, means anxious concern. Care, anxiety, distress, uneasiness, disquiet, unease, angst, anxiousness.

Worry is giving attention and energy to an event, or set of events, that may or may not happen sometime in the future.

Worry causes stress, which effects the body, and, in a real way, can make us sick. Headaches, stomach problems and even heart attacks are connected to this.

Worry puts energy into the thought we worry over. Thoughts and words have power, making worry into a kind of wish. We, in effect, are wishing for what we are worrying about. Icky!

Ask yourself if what you are worying about is worth putting energy into?

Can you do something about it? Then DO it!

If you can't, give it up.

Just stewing is a total waste of time and energy.

To put this precept in the positive -

Just for today, leave worry behind.
